Netherlands vs. Sweden – Men

The Dutch men had a crucial match against Sweden, with a place 3 or 4 in the group stage at stake. A third place could be beneficial for the rest of the tournament. The match was a real thriller: both teams were well matched, and the sets were evenly matched. In the end, it was Sweden that won the decisive match with a score of 7-6, 6-7, 7-6. The Dutch men will continue to fight for places 9 to 16.

Dutch women advance to quarter finals

The Dutch women played convincingly and managed to win their last group match with ease. This result secured them a place in the quarterfinals. Later in the blog, national coach Milou Ettekoven will tell more about the team's approach and their preparations for the upcoming rounds. Men's national coach Pablo Moreno also looks back on the intense first days and the performances of his team.

Belgium vs Argentina – Tough Challenge

Belgium faced a tough task against Argentina, a team that is among the best in the world. National coach Joris de Weerdt had already indicated that it was a great experience to face such strong players, but that winning would be almost impossible. His prediction came true: Argentina won 3-0, meaning that Belgium is now preparing for matches for places 9 to 16.

France – Ready for the quarter-finals

The French teams performed excellently on matchday 3. Both the men and women won their matches 3-0 and are therefore assured of a place in the quarterfinals. France remains one of the favorites for the top places in this tournament.

Germany vs. Spain – Women

The German women had to compete against Spain, one of the strongest teams in the women's tournament. Although Germany gave everything, Spain proved to be too strong and the Spanish women won convincingly with 3-0. With this, Germany continues in the battle for places 9 to 16, an important series, because a 9th place gives direct qualification for the next World Cup.

With the quarter finals in sight and important qualifying matches coming up, it promises to be an exciting conclusion in the Padel World Cup. For teams like the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, there is still a lot at stake in the coming days!

INTERVIEW Dutch men's national team coach Pablo Moreno Hernandez

After match day 3 of the Padel World Championship, we spoke with the Dutch national coach, who gave us an honest look at the unexpected challenges and courageous efforts of his team. The team experienced setbacks even before they left: Youp DeKroon, one of the regular players, got injured the night before the trip to the tournament. Fortunately, Yannick Verwater stepped in last minute, allowing the Netherlands to start the World Championship with a complete team.

The coach stressed that this year's World Cup is tougher than ever. " The level is significantly higher than in 2022, with every team participating at the top level ," he said. The Netherlands were immediately tested in what he described as the "group of death." Against top nations such as Portugal and Brazil, with players from the top 20, the Dutch players fought with full commitment to represent their country. The long battle against Sweden lasted a full seven hours and demanded the utmost from everyone.

Still, the team's outlook remains ambitious. "We've done a great job on the mental and physical recovery," he said. Before the start of the second part of the tournament, the focus is now on the upcoming match against Paraguay. "They are one of the strongest teams in South America, with many talented young players, but we will do everything we can to achieve our goal - qualifying for the next World Cup. We trust in our eight lions and are proud of them."

With a team full of determination and confidence, the Netherlands is ready for the next chapter of this challenging tournament.
